The church records for the baptism of Lizzie’s son, Edward Milligan, at St. Patrick’s in Montreal, Quebec, Canada (Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967) Click on the image to go to the document’s page.

The 1910 United States Federal Census told us that Lizzie had a son named Edward. Now that we know that she married Patrick in 1885, let’s try to find when Edward entered Lizzie’s life.

According to Edward’s March 28, 1886 baptismal record, we learn that Lizzie became a mom on Wednesday, March 24, 1886. She was 18 years old. To the best of our knowledge, this is what the record says. (Of course, if you see something that needs correcting, please feel free to leave a comment.):

Some other facts:

  • Edward’s baptism took place at St. Patrick’s Bascilica, the exact same location as his parent’s wedding.
  • Edward was born exactly nine months after the wedding (:
  • And while we know that Lizzie was 18 years old when Edward was born, we still have no idea how old Patrick was.
